The Sundance Film Festival, which celebrates its 40th birthday next month, will see the premiere of new films starring Kristen Stewart, Saoirse Ronan and Steven Yeun. The festival’s lineup includes a diverse array of film and TV premieres that highlight independent storytelling, with nearly half coming from first-time directors. The festival will take place from 18 to 28 January and showcases 82 films, 46% of which were directed by one or more female filmmakers and 45% by people of color. Among the highlights are a dramatic thriller starring Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun, a film adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s memoir starring Saoirse Ronan, and a fact-based drama directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor. This year’s Sundance Film Festival promises to be an exciting and diverse celebration of independent cinema.
