O’Brien, known for his late-night show from 1993 to 2010, has also hosted a podcast and a travel show in recent years. In a statement, he humorously announced his hosting gig while also promoting Taco Bell’s Cheesy Chalupa Supreme.
The Academy’s CEO and president expressed their excitement over O’Brien hosting, praising his humor, love for movies, and live TV experience. O’Brien has previously hosted the Emmys and the MTV Movie Awards.
Rumors were circulating about Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman possibly hosting, but Reynolds hinted at the possibility in the future. The previous Oscars ceremony had high ratings and the film « Oppenheimer » was the big winner with seven Oscars.
